Thoughts:  I have to admit that I’m a bad Michelle Pfeiffer super-fan because I didn’t even know she was in this until I saw her lovely visage in the trailer for this new drama.  While it appears Pfeiffer plays a supporting role here, her presence alone has made my eyes/ears perk up.  I’m still not totally sold on Chris Pine but it looks like this could be a film that shows what his acting chops are made of.  Elizabeth Banks is someone I continue to watch with interest – I think she’s phenomenally underappreciated which isn’t helped by her penchant for taking on less than challenging work.  Her recent turn in The Hunger Games brought her right back into focus for me – what she did to make a small-ish part memorable was to be commended.   I think the trailer gives too much away and I am SO weary of movies that hinge on the trivial “Big Secret That For Some Reason The Main Star Doesn’t Tell That Will Only Come Back To Haunt Them Later”.  With that being said, I do think this looks like an above average drama with interesting actors – every summer needs a solid drama to cleanse our pallete from the brain-cell killing action epics and if played right People Like Us could be the movie we need.
