Special Series

From time to time I get in the mood to do a series of reviews around a theme.

What you see below is not just a collection of posts; it’s a deeper dive into a specific thread. Whether you’re a seasoned cinephile or a curious newcomer, these should hopefully cater to your interests with depth, diversity, and a touch of uniqueness.

As always, you can leave a comment, contact me via my social channels, or connect with me via email if you have suggestions for the site or ideas for future collaborations!

Every October...We Get Freaky

31 Days to Scare

I love a horror film.  Be it schlocky, classic, groan-inducing, scream-producing, high tech, low budget, or plain crazy, there isn’t much in the genre I won’t see (though I do draw the line at those cheap-o flicks on Netflix Instant and Redbox).

Every day in October, you can expect a horror film review, and I’m hoping you’ll get introduced to a few you haven’t heard of.

There's an Art to It...

In Praise of Teasers

In this day and age, where all aspects of a movie are fairly well known before an inch of footage is seen, the subtlety of a well-crafted “teaser” trailer is totally gone…and I miss it…I miss it a lot.  Let’s revisit some of the teaser trailers I fondly remember and, in a way, reintroduce them. Whether the actual movie was good or bad is neither here nor there, but pay attention to how each of these teasers work in their own special way to grab the attention of movie-goers.

You'll Be Shaken, Stirred...

Bond-Ed for Life

Leading up to the release of Skyfall in November 2012, I went back and reviewed all of the previous Bond films and while I skipped a review of Spectre in 2015, I did come back for Daniel Craig’s last Bond adventure, No Time to Die in 2021.

Here’s hoping I can get you reacquainted with Mr. Bond and his many faces.
