Thoughts: When a film produces a trailer as sparkling and charming as this, it creates a dilemma in my mind. On one hand, it accomplishes its goal by letting the audience know that they are in for a good time. On the other hand, can the movie actually make good on its promise and turn the entire movie into a sparkling and charming gem? There are enough reliable people involved with this to indicate Hyde Park on Hudson may be The Kings Speech of 2012 with strong performances from Bill Murray and Laura Linney. Director Roger Michell (Notting Hill) knows how to keep things moving so even though I’ve found Murray to be a game actor, he’s one that lately has come across as too grumpy and egotistical for his own good. I think that Linney will be a nice balance and here’s hoping her performance is strong enough to nab her that Oscar she’s deserved for years.
