Thoughts: I still remain a huge fan of Paul Verhoeven’s 1990 take on Total Recall. His pairing with Schwarzenegger was a blockbuster boasting some good effects, a great score, and a well assembled cast of players. When I heard a remake was underway I was perplexed because the original wasn’t exactly a dud or disaster. Under the eye of Len Weisman (Underworld) this looks to be a fairly faithful re-imagining of the source material with Colin Farrell stepping in for Arnold. I’m also interested to see Weisman’s wife Kate Beckinsale take on the role that helped put Sharon Stone on the map. Futuristic sci-fi has a special place in my heart and from this trailer I get the feeling I’ll be happy with the Total Recall for a new millennium.
