The Silver Bullet ~ Man of Steel ~ Teaser Trailer

Synopsis: A child sent to Earth from a dying planet is adopted by a couple in rural Kansas. Posing as a journalist, he uses his extraordinary powers to protect his new home from an insidious evil.

Release Date: June 14, 2013

Thoughts: Just as The Dark Knight Rises is released and closing the book on a mega franchise for Warner Brothers, the teaser trailer for Man of Steel has arrived.  After a previous attempt to reboot Superman failed, Warner Brothers focused their attention on Batman.  With that coming to a close the studio decided to try it again, tapping director Zack Snyder to direct and assembling a cast of up and comers (Henry Cavill, Amy Adams) and established veterans (Russell Crowe, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane).  This first trailer for the movie – which I feel has been filming for five years – goes light on the blue tights and cape and indicates this will be a new look at the origins of the man who would be Superman.  Will it follow in the steps of Christopher Nolan’s visionary redux of Batman?  That remains to be seen..and we have nearly a year to wait/anticipate.  It’s hard to get better than the original Superman with Christopher Reeve…but Warner Brothers is welcome to give it the good ole college try!

I agree it will be hard to beat the original Superman, but this one seems to offer a totally new style, or feel. That was the only real problem with the latest Spidey film for me… it just wasn’t different enough. But I’m very excited to see Man of Steel!

Thank you for reading! I totally agree about Spider-Man…if you’re going to re-boot something, make it count. I’m not one of those people that isn’t open to remakes and Superman did need a re-boot. I think this has a lot of potential and am excited to see more. Nolan set the bar pretty high with The Dark Knight Trilogy…if he’s involved with this as a producer I’ve a feeling it’s going to be playing with a new deck of cards rather than the reshuffled deck that Superman Returns tried to play with.
