Release Date: April 27, 2012
Thoughts: The promotional material for this movie indicates that this is the ‘best performance of Jack Black’s career.” Newsflash: the bar wasn’t set high to begin with.
I’m a little torn after viewing this trailer because I like the work of director Richard Linklater and who can resist a performance by Shirley MacLaine that has hints of Ousier Boudreaux from Steel Magnolias? Matthew McConaughey got back into my good graces with the 2011’s The Lincoln Lawyer but I’m more than a little confused to what he’s doing here in that wig. At the end of the day, it appears Black is at the center of the whole shebang and I might be forced to suck it up.
